Delta emulator gets updated beta build 1.7 beta 5 with online multiplayer and controller case improvements

The AltStore Team published an updated beta build of the popular Delta emulator application for iPhones and iPads on Monday, with the latest build receiving the version designation of 1.7 beta 5.

Delta v1.7b5 announced.

An announcement shared to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), which we’ve included for your viewing pleasure above, reveals what’s new. Citing the change log, Delta version 1.7 beta 5 introduces the following changes:

NEW

– A new “What’s New” screen that lists new features in the latest Delta update
– Controller case support now lets users adjust the position of the pause menu via controller skins, supports vertical and horizontal insets, and allows using the pause menu with cases such as Gamebaby and PlayCase

IMPROVED

– Online multiplayer now fetches known WFC servers dynamically, asks users to choose a WFC server when first connecting online, and adds a “Reset WFC Configuration” button to reset WFC-related settings

FIXED

– Fixed using analog sticks as discrete inputs for controllers with poor calibration (thanks to Ian Clawson)
– Fixed not disabling active fast forward when connecting online
– Fixed showing all save states as incompatible for non-DS systems
– Fixed not showing Reset button when choosing per-game external controller or AirPlay skins
– Fixed crash when viewing save states for unsupported systems
– Fixed hold button description layout after orientation change

As you might be able to tell, some of the highlights from this update include improved support for controller cases, a “What’s New” screen to let you know when there are major changes in an app update, and a refined online multiplayer setup.

In a follow-up post, the AltStore Team noted that improving support for controller cases means that the pause menu can now be accessed without removing the faceplate. This means that case creators can now customize the location of the pause menu to better suit their needs.

Beta releases of Delta aren’t available to all general users like updates in the App Store are, but rather are only offered to Patrons using the AltStore PAL alternative App Store in the European Union or the AltStore Classic sideloading utility everywhere else in the world.

Soon enough, these features will make their way to mainstream releases in the App Store, meaning that all users, beta and non-beta, will get to take advantage of online multiplayer for emulated games, as well as so many other perks in the latest versions.

Are you using the latest Delta beta update, or will you be waiting for these features to make their way to a public, non-beta release? Let us know in the comments section down below.
