Stream the Super Bowl in 4K on any Apple device for free

Even folks who don’t pay for access to TV channels can stream the Super Bowl live — and for free — on any Apple device or on the web. For Super Bowl LIX this Sunday, Fox Sports plans to stage a “takeover” of the Tubi streaming app. The free live Super Bowl stream will include a pregame run-up and the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar. And it requires no viewer sign-in.

So now what’s your excuse to blow off the year’s biggest sporting event? Oh, you probably hate football, not to mention all the commercialist hoopla that comes with America’s modern-day gladiatorial bloodsport. Oh well. For tens of millions of others, Super Bowl Sunday is like a national holiday.

Stream the Super Bowl live for free in 4K on any Apple device with Tubi and Fox Sports

Fox Sports’ 11th time airing the Super Bowl, aka the NFL’s championship game, will include “unauthenticated access across devices.” That includes the Tubi streaming app for the first time, the broadcaster said. That will open up free viewing for many people who don’t ordinarily stream live TV. Super Bowl LIX kicks off from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9 at 3:30 p.m. Pacific.

“As part of the network’s extensive coverage, this year marks the first time Fox Sports rolls out its special takeover of Tubi for The Big Game — inclusive of streaming Fox’s telecast of the Super Bowl on the platform live in 4K,” Fox Sports said in a press release. “Super Bowl LIX is available to watch on Fox, Fox Deportes, Tubi, Telemundo and across NFL digital properties with unauthenticated access across devices.”

And for all viewers — but especially those who don’t like football and consider the glitzy halftime show the main event — the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show is included. This year it features headliner Kendrick Lamar. (Apple signed on to sponsor Super Bowl halftime shows in 2021.)

Pregame programming also will air for Tubi viewers, including a special Tubi “red carpet” intro.
